Premier Lifeline Confidentiality, Anonymity and Safeguarding Policy
Premier Lifeline is a confidential telephone helpline where your safety and privacy are paramount.
We take your confidentiality very seriously. We do not have access to your telephone number and will only ask you for a first name (which you can share if you are happy to do so). This maintains confidentiality and enables you to remain anonymous.
We want to help you to explore your feelings about your situation and make the decisions that are right for you. We will ask you questions when listening to you to help you do this, and to make sure we understand what you are telling us. We want our focus to remain on listening to you and empowering you to take the right action for yourself and on behalf of others.
We are always concerned about your health and safety and that of others. This in particular applies to safeguarding children and young people, and adults at risk.
As we do not have access to your telephone number and there is no operational reason for our Team to request and record any of your details we are not in a position to take action on your behalf.
If you are at risk of being hurt by your own actions or by someone else, we will discuss with you the best way to keep yourself safe.
If you describe a risk to others then we will explore with you the best way to ensure their protection.
If we identify a risk, we will plan with you a course of action to mitigate the risk, and signpost you to the most appropriate agency to help you with your needs.
It is important to know that you decide what information you choose to share with us. You are not required to give us any information.
If during the call, you start providing us with identifying information, we will make you aware of this. It is our policy that we do not take any identifying information from our Callers.
We respect the dignity and autonomy of the Caller and encourage the Caller to always retain personal accountability and responsibility for their own choices.
If you have any questions regarding our policy then you can contact the Premier Lifeline Safeguarding Officer 020 7316 1440 Monday to Friday 10am to 4.30pm (excluding public holidays).
